How-to recycle efficiently in Athens, Ga.

Tips and guidelines that will help you to recycle in the easiest and most effective way in Athens

Step 1: Finding a drop-off location close to your residence, all addresses are Athens, Ga.

Drop-off containers are located at the following locations:
· Athens Clarke-County Solid Waste Department, 1005 College Ave.
· Athens Tech, 800 U.S. Highway 29 N.
· City of Winterville, Intersection of Parkview Road and North Church Street
· Jail Road off of Lexington Road
· Athens Clarke-County Landfill, 5700 Lexington Rd.
· Georgia Square Mall off of Atlanta Highway
· Athens-Clarke County Recycling Facility, 699 Hancock Industrial Way
· Athens-Clarke County Fire Stations 8 &9, 1626 Danielsville Rd. and 3955 Jefferson Rd.
· George Gibson’s Menswear, 1059 Baxter St.
· The Reserve at Athens, only available to residents
· 909 Broad Street Apartments, only available to residents

*If your apartment complex is not listed, and you want to recycle at your complex, then let your apartment management know, or you can contact Courtney Redmond, Elected President of the Athens Apartment Association, at (706) 227-6222 for more information*

Drop-off containers on the UGA Campus:
· Oglethorpe Dining Commons
· Snelling Dining Commons
· Bolton Dining Commons
· Carlton Street Lot
· East Village Dining Commons
· East Campus Parking Lot Deck
· University Village (Building C Lot)
· Recreational Sports Complex (Lake Herrick Pavillion Lot)
· Rogers Road (Building P)
· Riverbend Research Lot

*Single items can be recycled inside many buildings on campus as well*

Step 2: Knowing what you can recycle

The paper bins accept the following items:
· Cardboard
· Office paper
· Newspapers
· Junk mail
· Paperboard boxes
· Magazines, telephone books, etc.
· Paper bags
· Milk and juice cartons

And the ‘bottles & cans’ bins accept these items:
· Aluminum
· Food cans
· Glass bottles and jars
· Plastic bottles
· Empty aerosol containers

*Flatten and clean when applicable*
