The University of Georgia is currently considering revised policies towards scooters and mopeds, which would push them out of the center of campus and make them park in regular parking lots. This would reduce or eliminate their use for “intra-campus transportation.” Is this the answer students are looking for? Here are some pros and cons of intra-campus transportation:
Pros: For most students, intra-campus transportation is the primary purpose of scooters
· Some classes are too far apart to get to on time-- even using the bus system.
· Most scooters are more environmentally friendly than cars.
· Scooters are relatively inexpensive. Many students who cannot afford cars can afford scooters, which can range in price from about $200 to a few thousand.
· Students who do own cars often have to park far away from their dorms. Convenient parking options for scooters allow them to be used back and forth.
Cons: The university already has its own established, regulated intra-campus transportation systems
· Potentially dangerous and often careless scooter drivers are a common concern on campus
· Improper parking of scooters often blocks handicapped access ways
· Motorcyclists have to compete for spaces with scooters illegally parked in their spaces

Pro-con might be a good format for examining the proposal to kick scooters to the campus perimeter, but the execution would be better if these items were sourced and if they all were directly relevant to the proposal. Scooters' affordability as a pro doesn't really matter in terms of getting around campus: Students could still buy a scooter instead of a car to park in the perimeter lots. The point about scooters being an advantage over buses for getting to class on time is a more logical pro for this list.
